The Action Kids Triathlon is an event for children especially those with special needs to showcase their fitness and skill achievements – and have FUN. It is part of our Fitness Program - a program of fitness promoting focus, flexibility and strength for children.
The competition is open to children with motor challenges (neuromuscular disorders such as Cerebral Palsy) and children in the Autism Spectrum in all level of abilities. The children will need to be age 5 or older to participate. It is the goal of our programs (whether it's Fitness, Kids Gym, or Intensive PT) for each child to achieve skills they have never had before. Every step of progress they make is a positive step towards better self-esteem and improvement in their lives. And the triathlon is one fun and challenging way for the children to show what they can really do!
Each participant will compete against their own record in all three events (Aquatics, Adapted Biking, Walker/Wheelchair) on the day of the triathlon. Each participant will need to log their Personal Best Stat to beat at least a month prior to the event. For those children in our program who wish to participate, their stats will be recorded during one of their Fitness, Gym, Intensive and Aquatic Program sessions. Specific requirements for the competition will be handed out. Children outside of the program wishing to participate will need to call us to setup an appointment to log their numbers for each event. An assistant/coach will be provided for the child while competing in each event.
Registration accepted one month prior to event and free to Movement Discoveries current program participants. There is a non-refundable $35 registration fee for other participants. All registered Triathlon participants will receive an event T-shirt.
