Intensive Physical Therapy
The Intensive Physical Therapy is a specialized program open to children of preschool age and up. The program benefits children who suffers from neuromuscular disorders and other similar conditions.
Our team of rehabilitation professionals evaluates the child at the beginning and end of each three-week therapy session. With input from parents and child, an appropriate goal-oriented therapy program is designed for the child that is carried out by licensed and certified physical therapists. Our therapists follow the TheraSuit™ Method of treatment developed by physical therapist Izabela Koscielny.
The child participates in the program for 3 or 4 hours a day, 5 days a week for a three-week period totaling up to 60 hours of intensive physical therapy. Each treatment day includes a preparation phase with hot packs and/or massage, stretching, strengthening exercises, vestibular therapy, gait training, and functional exercises. The TheraSuit™ and the Universal Exercise Unit are utilized during treatment.
Other equipment available during therapy includes a Treadmill and LiteGate system, and Freedom Concepts adapted bikes. The therapist may also incorporate other techniques or methods as appropriate including NDT (Neuro-Developmental Treatment), PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation), or Kinesio Taping.
