Infant Development Program
The purpose of this center-based Infant Development Program is to empower, educate and support families to assist their children in meeting their maximum potential. The main focus of the services will be the child’s development and the parent’s concerns. The program recognizes that early quality interaction between the parent and the child are crucial to a child’s developing skills and to achieving a sense of security in the world. Program staff work closely with parents and other primary caregivers to help them understand the behavior of their children and to read their children’s unique cues. A primary goal of the intervention activities is to support early interaction and socialization with other children and assist parents and children to engage in mutually satisfying interactions and relationships.
The Infant Development Program serves children 18 months to 3 years of age who are at risk for developmental disorders. This parent participation program meets twice a week and meets for 3 hours each time. Staff includes a Physical Therapist , Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, and Teacher. Funding: The program accepts referrals and funding from the Golden Gate Regional Center as well as private pay.
Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy
Movement Discoveries provides center-based and home-based one-to-one services for the birth to three for physical therapy and occupational therapy. Speech and language is private pay only and not a regional center vendored service at this time. Funding: The center is vendored to provide PT & OT services to Golden Gate Regional Center clients and also accepts private pay, as well as offers health insurance billing. We also offer a discounted hourly rate for regional center clients that is over 40% less than our normal hourly rate for those who prefer to private pay.
Workshops and Other Programs
We have created free and low-cost workshops and programs to provide families with options especially those who may be faced with changes, delays or even elimination of state funded services for their children due to the current state budget crisis. Free workshops to monitor children's development, low-cost classes that provide therapeutic benefits, and creative ways to stretch therapy dollars are just some of the ways we can hopefully assist.
